Info
On 16 April 2027, The Academic land at Scala in London with their sharp, melodic take on indie rock. The Mullingar quartet know how to write songs that stick: clean guitar lines, punchy rhythms, and choruses built to be shouted back without thinking twice. Since breaking through with Tales From The Backseat and its straight-to-the-point pop-rock drive, they’ve kept pushing their sound into something both immediate and slightly nostalgic, without getting stuck in the past.
With Sitting Pretty, they tightened the screws: more confidence, more groove, a band that’s learned how to balance heart-on-sleeve hooks with a lean, modern edge. Live, that translates into a set that moves fast, hits hard, and leaves room for those little turns that betray their love for classic British guitar pop and nervous new-wave energy. Expect a sweaty, singalong-heavy night where the band’s chemistry does most of the talking, plus guests to warm the room up.
