Info
On 23 April 2027 Richard Thompson will perform at Metropool in Hengelo with a show that spans his entire career: British folk rock, electric guitars, and that distinctive storytelling that can be as dry as it is sharp. Since his breakthrough in the late sixties with Fairport Convention, Thompson has evolved into a songwriter who effortlessly blends tradition with his own idiosyncrasy. Live, you'll hear why his name comes up so often when people talk about guitar playing: melodic, precise, rooted in folk, yet just as much in rock and country. Expect songs that can shift from intimate acoustic ballads to driving band moments, with stories in which gloom and small humor sit side by side. In Hengelo, that material carries extra weight thanks to his long-running discography, from his early solo work to later records such as Rumor and Sigh, Mock Tudor, Electric, and 13 Rivers.
