Info
On December 1, 2026, Avatar lands at the Gashouder in Amsterdam with their typical mix of modern metal, heavy grooves and classic heavy influences, but above all with that theatrical, slightly ominous circus atmosphere the band is known for. From Gothenburg they originally started out in the realm of melodic death metal, but gradually the sound became more hybrid and the stage presence grew increasingly important. Lead vocalist Johannes Eckerström leads the five-piece as a character, while guitars, bass and drums switch between tight riffs, catchy melodies and unexpected twists. Avatar enjoys drawing from different phases live: from the early, rougher records to the moment when "Black Waltz" and "Hail the Apocalypse" made their shows bigger and more narrative. Later work as well, with the more conceptual approach of "Feathers & Flesh", the unifying "Avatar Country" and the sharpened sound of "Hunter Gatherer" and "Dance Devil Dance", fits seamlessly into a set that aims to be as hard as it is visually striking. Do not expect loose songs, but a performance that feels like one long scene.
