On October 7, 2027, This Is The Kit brings Kate Stables’ ever-shifting folk-rock universe to the Roundhouse in London. Built around her voice, guitar and banjo, the project has moved from a loose solo shape to a real band dynamic, keeping that flexible feel where the arrangements can breathe and suddenly tilt into something rougher.
Expect songs that sit between contemporary folk and indie rock: acoustic strings and banjo lines rubbing up against more electric guitars, with slightly off-kilter rhythms that give the melodies a sideways push. Stables’ writing stays direct and grounded, the kind that lands because it doesn’t overplay its hand.
With a catalogue that stretches from early records like Krülle Bol and Wriggle Out the Restless to Bashed Out, Moonshine Freeze, Off Off On and the more recent Careful of Your Keepers, this show is a chance to hear how those different eras connect onstage in one continuous, lived-in set.
