DJ Krush, a Japanese producer and DJ, is among the artists who have given genuine cinematic depth to instrumental hip-hop and trip-hop. Discovered in Tokyo's underground scene in the early 1990s, he established a distinctly personal signature: slow or broken beats, dark textures, dub and ambient influences, and a pronounced fondness for jazz and soul, sometimes interwoven with more traditional elements.
His early albums, from Krush to Meiso, laid the foundations of a sound crafted as much for listening as for mixing, with the precision of turntablism and a mastery of atmosphere. Over the years, his discography has ranged between solo projects and collaborations, such as Ki-Oku with Toshinori Kondo, all while keeping that same tension between rhythm and contemplation. DJ Krush will be performing live on 3 October 2026 at The Sugar Club in Dublin.
