Dutty Moonshine Big Band at Project House
Dutty Moonshine Big Band presents its 'Second Distillation UK Tour 2026' on 23 October 2026 at Project House in Leeds.
Formed in Bristol in 2014, Dutty Moonshine Big Band extends the universe of the British duo Dutty Moonshine into an expanded live version, conceived as a big band blending electronic, brass, vocals and club rhythms. The collective evolves at the crossroads of electro swing, UK bass and electronic dance music, with a sound that fuses vintage samples, funk energy and hip-hop influences with a more orchestral writing than that of a typical electronic project. Dutty Moonshine Big Band performs across the United Kingdom and at festivals, giving its productions a live dimension carried by a brass section and multiple performers. On the discography side, the group released Most Wanted in 2019 and City of Sin in 2020, two albums that define this identity, blending sound-system culture, revisited swing and British dance music. Dutty Moonshine Big Band is rooted in the Bristol scene while engaging with broader circuits of electronic and festive music, where the collective circulates a repertoire built for live performance as much as for the club.
Based in London, Tankus the Henge has since the late 2000s developed a universe where psychedelic rock, rhythm and blues, touches of funk and cabaret-like atmospheres intersect. The band, sometimes simply called Tankus, is built around the singer and pianist Jaz Delorean, with an expanded lineup that emphasises brass and collective arrangements. After several years on the London scene and on circuits of venues and festivals in the United Kingdom and later in Europe, Tankus the Henge released its self-titled debut in 2013, followed by Luna Park! in 2017 and Cold Night For Heroes in 2020, which in the studio cemented a repertoire initially shaped on stage. Tankus’s songs rest on a prominently featured piano, melodic brass lines and a penchant for tempo changes, with songs that swing between slow ballads, soul influences and faster passages reminiscent of ska or alternative rock. As the tours have progressed, Tankus the Henge has consolidated a sonic identity centred on collective energy and a narrative register in which the lyrics play an important role in shaping the band's aesthetic.
