If you like guitars that loop and weave their way into a trance, Imarhan are coming to put it into practice on September 21, 2026 at Dabadaba, in Donostia / San Sebastián. The group, born in Tamanrasset, south of Algeria, has since the early 2010s been crossing the tichumaren (that electric 'desert blues') with rock, pop and Saharan funk, without losing the communal pulse of their roots.
They sing mainly in Tamasheq and craft their songs with electric guitars at the forefront, call-and-response vocals, and rhythms that draw from both local celebrations and urban music. Following their self-titled debut in 2016, Temet (2018) pushed further toward the rock side and the collective arrangements; Aboogi (2022), recorded in their own studio in Tamanrasset, brought the sound closer to something more acoustic and intimate. In concert, that crossing of tradition and electricity feels like a continuous groove: a flexible bassline, mid-tempo cadences, and an energy that looks toward today’s Sahara.
