The High Kings are returning to Dublin to perform on January 31, 2027, at Vicar Street. Formed in 2008, the group is part of the great tradition of sung Irish folk—the ballads handed down, pub choruses sung in unison, and tight vocal harmonies. Their sound remains anchored in acoustic roots and the Celtic spirit, while allowing room for more contemporary arrangements, occasionally with a touch of country that broadens the frame without betraying it.
Today, The High Kings bring together Finbarr Clancy, Brian Dunphy, Darren Holden, and Paul O’Brien. Their repertoire ranges from revisited standards to compositions that are increasingly prominent across their albums, from The High Kings to Memory Lane, Friends for Life, then Home from Home, up to The Road Not Taken, conceived as an album entirely driven by original songs. In concert, this sense of balance is what predominates: music that transmits tradition, performed in the present, sustained by voices that respond to one another and by a direct-stage energy.
