45 years into their career, 14 studio albums, and independence still firmly in hand, And Also the Trees deliver free and inspired albums at an increasingly brisk pace, free of any reference to cold wave and gothic rock—the very genres they helped forge alongside The Cure in the early 1980s. Inspired, for that is And Also the Trees' sole driving force—the band has preserved its independence to heed only the call of its muses.
Since the early 2010s and the acoustic detour When The Rain Comes / Driftwood, the Jones brothers' band seems to be entering a second era, expressed on stage in electrifying live performances and a growing audience. The year 2024 sees the release of Mother-of-Pearl Moon, less than two years after The Bone Carver, a delicate record with discreet orchestration that pushes the group into new frontiers, notably with the addition of electronic elements in places.
