Info
Buzzcocks play the 100 Club in London on 4 December 2026. Born out of Manchester’s mid-70s punk spark, the band formed in 1976 around Pete Shelley and Howard Devoto, with Steve Diggle soon in the mix. After the self-released Spiral Scratch EP in 1977, Devoto stepped away, and Shelley steered a first run that burned through 1977-81. Albums like Another Music in a Different Kitchen, Love Bites and A Different Kind of Tension set a template: fast, clipped songs, pop-leaning melodies, and lyrics circling desire, doubt and everyday tensions.
The group returned in the 90s around Shelley and Diggle, releasing records through the 2000s while staying active on stage. Following Shelley’s death in 2018, Diggle took over lead vocals and pushed the line forward with The Way and, more recently, Sonics in the Soul (2022), keeping the writing direct and melodic. Live, Buzzcocks keep it tight and urgent, driven by straight-ahead rhythms, serrated guitars and hooks that hit quickly. This 100 Club date points to a set folding early cuts and newer material into a lean, focused show.
