Melbourne’s Way Dynamic is the songwriting project of Dylan Young, shaping an indie-pop language that blends lo-fi textures, soft rock sway and a discreet electric folk pulse into melodic, close-to-the-mic songs. Emerging in the late 2010s with a run of EPs and longer releases, the project has grown through DIY recording and occasional collaborations across the Australian scene. The arrangements tend to stay lean: clean guitars, unhurried tempos, simple harmonies. When the songs open up, layers of keys or denser guitars slip in, adding a slight psych tint without losing intimacy.
On stage, Way Dynamic leaves the studio’s autonomy for a full band, reshaping tracks with a clearer push-and-pull between quiet passages and firmer sections. The set keeps the focus on the writing while letting the dynamics breathe, a format that fits both small rooms and festival contexts. Way Dynamic plays at Clwb Ifor Bach in Cardiff on 1 September 2026.
