Info
Four decades in, The Afghan Whigs arrive at The Palais, Nottingham on 20 September 2026 with the taut, soulful rock that has defined them since their Cincinnati beginnings. Reformed in 2012, Greg Dulli and the band have carved a strong second chapter, blending R&B inflections and noir storytelling with serrated guitars. Expect a set that ranges across their catalogue, from Gentlemen and Black Love to the more recent Do To The Beast (2014), In Spades (2017) and How Do You Burn? (2022). In December they unveiled the double A-side single Fake Like / Downtown, a new snapshot of where the group is heading as they mark their 40th year.
Also on the bill, Ed Harcourt brings piano-led songs with a taste for chamber pop and shadowy folk-rock hues. Since the Mercury Prize nod for Here Be Monsters, the Londoner has shifted between intimate ballads and richer arrangements across From Every Sphere, Furnaces and El Magnifico. On stage, his voice and keys ground melodies that swell and recede with a measured intensity, setting a distinct mood alongside The Afghan Whigs.
