Info
Los Campesinos! bring their indie pop grit to Exeter Phoenix on 30 May 2026. Formed in 2006 at Cardiff University, the band made a name with fast, tightly packed guitar lines and Gareth Paisey’s lead vocals, often offset by female counterpoints. Keys, violin and percussion have long colored their sound, giving the songs a crisp edge and a distinctive brightness. Early releases Hold on Now, Youngster... and We Are Beautiful, We Are Doomed (both 2008) set the pace, followed by Romance Is Boring (2010) and Hello Sadness (2011), where the writing turns darker and the indie rock grows denser. Line-up shifts brought in Kim Paisey in 2009, then Rob Taylor and Jason Adelinia in 2010, while the core around Gareth Paisey, Neil Turner and Tom Bromley held steady. No Blues (2013), Sick Scenes (2017) and All Hell (2024) continued to balance nervy pop, sharp hooks and detail-rich lyrics. On stage, expect a set that spans this catalogue, from rushes of guitar to bittersweet singalongs.
Other Half, UK punk band, open the night with a straight-ahead set to kick things off.
