Info
On 12 July 2026, Wolf Alice take over Exhibition Park in Newcastle upon Tyne. Formed in London in 2010 around singer-guitarist Ellie Rowsell and guitarist Joff Oddie, later joined by drummer Joel Amey and bassist Theo Ellis, the band has shaped a sound that moves between indie rock bite, dream-pop haze and shoegaze textures, with a trace of the folk roots from their early days. The first EPs, Blush (2013) and Creature Songs (2014), sketched out the contrasts that still drive them: abrasive guitars set against more vaporous passages and strong melodic lines.
My Love Is Cool (2015) gave that palette a first long format, switching from grunge-tinged tension to cleaner pop refrains and noisier edges. Visions of a Life (2017) widened the scope again, followed by Blue Weekend (2021), which honed the dynamics and brought Rowsell’s voice forward. The Clearing (2025) extended that evolution with a taste for atmosphere without losing direct impact.
On stage, Wolf Alice lean into contrast: tight rhythms that open into suspended, near-whispered moments before the volume surges back. In the open air of Exhibition Park, the set draws across their catalogue, from bruised ballads to fuzzed-out climaxes, carried by four players who keep the energy elastic rather than fixed.
