Eric Johnson

Eric Johnson brings his precision guitar craft to Epic Studios in Norwich on 30 July 2026. The Austin, Texas guitarist first drew attention in the late 70s with the jazz‑rock outfit Electromagnets before launching a solo path with Tones in 1986 and the platinum Ah Via Musicom in 1990, which featured Cliffs of Dover and earned a Grammy. Across four decades he has moved with ease between rock, blues, fusion, folk, country and classical influences, always with a focus on melody and clear phrasing.

On stage, Johnson plays with singing sustain, clean tones and quick, articulate picking, sculpting harmonies and dynamics that serve the song rather than the showcase. Expect a set that looks across his catalogue — early pieces like Zap, the Ah Via Musicom era, and later albums Bloom, Up Close and EJ — alongside recent material from The Book of Making and Yesterday Meets Today. Electric passages, lyrical instrumentals and quieter detours are all in the mix, for a concert built around touch, tone and musical storytelling.
