Sophie Ellis-Bextor

Sophie Ellis-Bextor arrives at Kelvingrove Bandstand, Glasgow, on 1 August 2026 with a set that traces her route from indie beginnings to dance-pop craft. First noticed as the vocalist for Theaudience, she stepped into the spotlight with Spiller on Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love), then defined her solo path with Read My Lips, Shoot from the Hip and Trip the Light Fantastic, mixing electronic pop, disco and a touch of new wave. The club connection stayed present with Make a Scene and her trance-pop collaborations, before she shifted toward richer songwriting on Wanderlust and Familia, leaning into baroque pop, folk shades and more organic instrumentation.

She later revisited her catalogue with The Song Diaries in orchestral mode, and the Kitchen Disco sessions brought her live energy into homes. With Hana in 2023, she explored a more atmospheric side of her pop while keeping the dancefloor thread intact. On stage, she moves easily between glossy nu-disco and songwriter-driven pop, stitching together hooks, harmonies and grooves from across her catalogue for a show built on melody and movement.
