Info
Alison Moyet comes to Symphony Hall, Birmingham on 22 October 2026 with the depth and grain of a contralto at the center of everything. From the punk and R&B clubs of Basildon to the synth-pop chapter of Yazoo with Vince Clarke, she has long balanced electronic tension with clear, crafted songwriting. Solo, she set a pop-soul frame with Alf and Raindancing, pushed into rougher edges on Hoodoo and Essex, then returned with Hometime. She also explored orchestral standards on Voice and a more writer-driven approach on The Turn, before reconnecting with lean electronics on The Minutes and Other alongside producer Guy Sigsworth.
On stage, that path becomes a set that moves between analogue warmth and digital minimalism, blues-tinged slow burns and tight pop contours. Her voice holds the line without excess, giving space to lyrics, synth lines and rhythm. The evening spans eras, from Yazoo songs to solo milestones and recent material, often reworked to foreground texture and pulse. A focused live moment built around presence and songs, with arrangements that keep the essentials in view.
