On 31 July 2026 at Cardiff Castle, The Streets bring Mike Skinner’s sharp eye for everyday detail back to the stage. Since Original Pirate Material (2002) and the narrative arc of A Grand Don’t Come for Free (2004), Skinner has charted urban life with a conversational flow and beats that move between UK garage, rap and electronica. Dry Your Eyes, Fit But You Know It and Blinded by the Lights marked a shift in British music in the 2000s, followed by The Hardest Way to Make an Easy Living, Everything Is Borrowed and Computers and Blues. After a pause and a reboot from 2017 onwards, the project returned in 2023 with The Darker the Shadow the Brighter the Light, keeping the focus on writing and observation.
Also on the bill, London’s Jimothy Lacoste works a deadpan, spoken rap over minimal synths and clipped hooks. Emerging online with Future Bae in 2017, then Fashion and Subway System, he bends the codes of UK rap and viral pop with dry humour and straight delivery. His tracks stick to the ordinary—clothes, commutes, the city—and turn it into compact vignettes where image and sound align.
