On 10 July 2026 at Jazz Cafe in London, CARRTOONS — the project of New York bassist, producer and composer Ben Carr — brings a set built from the electric bass up. His music threads jazz harmonies, hip-hop pulse and contemporary soul into slow, melodic grooves where warm keys and precise rhythms leave room for detail. On stage he favors a tight, small-band format that keeps the sound intimate and lets improvisation breathe, somewhere between the heritage of 70s jazz-funk and today’s lo-fi and neo-soul textures. Always anchored in song form, his live take balances instrumental motifs and vocal-led pieces without losing the focus on feel.
Haile Supreme is also on the bill, stepping in on vocals to push the melodic side of the set and bring the lyrics to the front line alongside CARRTOONS’ bass figures.
Joining them, British singer, songwriter and producer Gareth Donkin explores a contemporary R&B and neo-soul palette where pop finesse meets jazz-tinged harmonies and echoes of 70s soul. Known for layered vocals, mid-tempo grooves and warm keys, he keeps the focus on the craft of the song, moving between introspective ballads and discreetly funk-driven rhythms, as heard on his 2023 album Welcome Home.
