The Notwist

On 16 April 2026 Bologna’s Locomotiv Club welcomes The Notwist. Formed in Weilheim in the late 1980s around brothers Markus and Micha Acher, the Germans began between hardcore and metal before moving toward a more melodic rock and, by the late 1990s, incorporating electronics, jazz and post‑rock. From 12 and Shrink through Neon Golden and The Devil, You + Me, the band defined a language of restrained guitars, foregrounded programming and Markus Acher’s contained vocals, with songs built through rigor and subtle arrangement shifts. With Vertigo Days they explored repetitive patterns, krautrock accents and delicate orchestrations, also the result of dialogue with the Weilheim scene.

This tour precedes a new album due spring 2026 on Morr Music. The setlist alternates classics and more recent tracks: sequences and synths intertwine with pulsing drums, elastic bass lines and guitars that enter and withdraw without force. Live, the band attends to detail and breadth, leaving room for instrumental detours and dynamics that open with restraint. It’s a set that retraces The Notwist’s milestones without nostalgia, sharpening that balance between pop precision and experimental tension that has made them distinctive.
