Info
On July 1, 2026, Lokverkstan in Motala, Sweden, brings together two distinct takes on heavy rock: Saxon and The Poodles.
Saxon, formed in England around singer Biff Byford, broke out with a 1979 debut and the one-two of Wheels of Steel and Strong Arm of the Law, quickly followed by Denim and Leather. Their template is clear: direct riffs, steady tempos, and lyrics fueled by working life, motorcycles, history and war. The thread runs through Power & the Glory, Crusader and Solid Ball of Rock, then into the 2000s with Lionheart, Sacrifice, Thunderbolt, Carpe Diem and Hell, Fire and Damnation. On stage, that catalogue hits hard with melodic contours and a no-frills drive.
The Poodles, from Stockholm, land on the melodic hard rock side with polished guitars and crafted choruses. Launched in 2005 around singer Jakob Samuel, they broke through with Night of Passion at Melodifestivalen 2006, then rolled out Metal Will Stand Tall, Sweet Trade, Clash of the Elements, Performocracy, Tour De Force, Devil in the Details and Prisma. Expect sleek hooks, a glam-tinged sheen and a tight, road-ready swing that fits hand in glove with a classic metal bill.
