Info
On April 29, 2027, Tindersticks bring their slow-burning blend of indie rock and chamber pop to Det Kongelige Teater in Copenhagen. Formed in Nottingham in 1992 around Stuart A. Staples, the band carved a distinct space with strings, subtle soul inflections, a hint of jazz and Staples’ low, steady voice. Their self-titled albums of 1993 and 1995, followed by Curtains in 1997, set the tone before a more direct, soul-leaning turn on Simple Pleasure (1999) and Can Our Love… (2001). A stripped-back approach emerged with Waiting for the Moon (2003), then a renewed run with The Hungry Saw (2008), Falling Down a Mountain (2010) and The Something Rain (2012). Parallel to their records, Tindersticks have long worked for cinema, notably with filmmaker Claire Denis, threading filmic nuance into their sound.
Recent releases — The Waiting Room (2016), No Treasure but Hope (2019), Distractions (2021) and Soft Tissue (2024) — continue that balance between intimate ballads and carefully layered arrangements. On stage, the group favors patience and detail, letting textures breathe and placing Staples’ voice at the center.
