Hailing from Orange County, he has shaped a project that moves from poetry to song form, and from rap to pop, R&B, rock, and now folk-tinged shades. This fluidity between genres is reflected in a voice pushed to the fore, straightforward melodies, and songwriting nourished by a turbulent youth.
Self-produced at the start before opening up to collaborations, Gate$ has kept a very personal approach to his tracks. On stage he combines confessions, melodic hooks and a rock edge, while increasingly favouring more acoustic textures.
