Meatbodies (garage-punk / psychedelic):
After performing with Mikal Cronin and then Ty Segall in the band Fuzz, Chad Ubovich founded Meatbodies, a garage-punk project that blends stoner and psychedelic influences. The California-based group has carved out a place on the international rock scene.
Released on the California label In The Red (Black Lips, Oh Sees, Ty Segall Band, The Dirtbombs), their three LPs are marked by sixties-tinged sounds, urgent riffs and vocals reminiscent of John Dwyer. 333, their latest, harks back to the late 1960s when rock began to suggest a harder, heavier, more metallic form while retaining a measure of innocence. The album features heavy garage rock, but also psychedelic folk à la Led Zeppelin on "Let Go", krautrock and more experimental, psychedelic elements.
