Nicolas Folmer « So Miles Quintet »

On May 15, 2026, at the Sunset Sunside, Nicolas Folmer presents his So Miles Quintet. A trumpeter, composer and arranger who came to prominence in the late 1990s, he moves between hard bop, post-bop and electric jazz, with a constant focus on collective writing and ensemble formats. Having passed through various contemporary jazz groups and notably collaborated with Daniel Humair and Dave Liebman, Folmer has broadened his musical terrain toward electric textures and pronounced grooves, without losing the thread of a still-present bop heritage.

With So Miles Quintet, he draws on the long shadow of Miles Davis to probe the colors and energy of that legacy: clear melodic lines, spaces left for soloists, electric atmospheres and taut pulses.
