Assassin

Assassin returns to Paris on 13 March 2027 at La Cigale. Born in the mid-1980s, the group established itself with conscious, independent rap led by Rockin’ Squat. From the outset, the writing has been frank and political, nourished by b-boy culture and a taste for self-production that took form with Assassin Productions. The group earned a gold record entirely on its own—a first in France for a rap crew—and laid down milestones that would leave a lasting mark on the scene. Songs that became reference points and a trajectory that inspired several generations of artists.

On stage, Assassin unfolds a dry, direct sound, between boom bap, soul-funk loops and beats cut for the lyrics. The themes remain at the core of the project: power relations, the media, inequalities, artistic autonomy. The live show draws on a dense catalogue, from the raw energy of the earliest tracks to more recent periods, always pairing commitment with rhythmic efficiency. At La Cigale, the group reactivates its history in the present tense, independently, true to the line that has driven it since its beginnings.
