Genesis Owusu

Genesis Owusu will perform on 19 June 2026 at the Pop-up du Label in Paris. Born in Ghana and based in Australia, he has been shaping a sound since his beginnings that sits at the crossroads of hip-hop, funk, post‑punk and a fluid, experimental pop.

With Smiling with No Teeth (2021) and STRUGGLER (2023), both recognized at the ARIA Awards, he developed a songwriting approach that alternates direct rap, sung passages and spoken word, driven by taut grooves, rock tensions and more melodic choruses.

He returns with REDSTAR WU & THE WORLDWIDE SCOURGE, his announced third album: fifteen tracks blending neo‑soul, funk, alt‑pop, synth‑punk and Brit‑rock. The record probes the fractures of our time — the rise of extremes, abuses of power, the role of social networks — while also addressing more intimate themes such as love, solidarity and resistance.

On stage, Genesis Owusu condenses this palette into a physical, precise live show in which the band’s energy supports songs that veer off unexpectedly.
