Ibrahim Maalouf

Info

On 6 April 2026 the French-Lebanese trumpeter and composer Ibrahim Maalouf comes to Amsterdam for a concert at Koninklijk Theater Carré. Raised in France and shaped by his father Nassim and by Maurice André, he made a name for himself early on through competitions and a path that took him from conservatories to international stages. Since the 2000s he has moved freely between jazz, film, theatre and chanson, with a series of releases that mark his trajectory: Diasporas, Diachronism, Diagnostic, Illusions, Kalthoum and Red & Black Light, followed by projects in which orchestral formats and collaborations play a role. Through his label Mi’ster Productions he issues his own releases and supports other artists, while touring continuously in Europe and beyond.

Live, Maalouf unites that wide-ranging practice into a consistent language: melodies that draw on roots and urban scenes, space for improvisation and arrangements that stay close to the song without shying away from adventure. In Carré he presents a selection from more than twenty years of repertoire, from clear themes to rhythmic passages that allow the group to breathe. Composition, encounter and transmission come together in a set that sums up his way of working: open, curiosity-driven and focused on the conversation between traditions and the present.
