Tricky

On June 3, 2026 Tricky will take the stage at SPOT/De Oosterpoort in Groningen. Adrian Thaws, born in Bristol, left his mark on trip hop in the early 1990s and collaborated with Massive Attack. With his debut Maxinquaye (1995) he set a course he has continued to explore: slow‑rolling beats, dub and hip‑hop textures, whispered melodies and the sharp edges of post‑punk and soul. Subsequent albums include Angels With Dirty Faces (1998), Blowback (2001) and, later, False Idols (2013), often made in collaboration with guest vocalists and producers.

Live, Tricky builds his tracks layer by layer, with long arcs of tension, silence that is allowed to breathe and a bass that gets under the skin. No frills, but a focus on rhythm, timbre and friction. Expect a set that roams through his catalogue, old material alongside more recent work, everything pared back to the essence of his sound. An evening of nocturnal grooves and echoes from Bristol, intimate and uncompromising.
