On May 16, 2026 the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam will host the Nights Like This Tour featuring Ne‑Yo and Akon. Two voices that since the 2000s have helped steer R&B and hip‑hop toward pop now share one stage in a show that brings together their different phases and influences.
Ne‑Yo, raised in Las Vegas, started out as a songwriter and then developed his own signature sound: R&B with soulful accents, sharp hooks and relationship-driven storytelling. From In My Own Words and Because of You to Year of the Gentleman and, more recently, Self Explanatory, his set moves between mid‑tempo ballads, hip‑hop‑tinged productions and collaborative tracks with pop and rap artists. Live he emphasizes melody, harmonies and dance, leaving room for familiar hits and newer singles.
Akon, born in the U.S. with roots in Senegal, connects American urban music with African rhythms. From Trouble and Konvicted to the more dance- and Afro‑pop‑tinged Freedom, El Negreeto and Akonda, his sound often uses autotune as a textural layer, ear‑catching choruses and club‑oriented productions. On stage he shifts between R&B, hip‑hop and Afro‑inspired grooves, supplemented by material from his producers’ catalogue.
Together they present a set that intersects their careers: classics alongside recent work, where R&B, pop, hip‑hop and Afro influences meet, tightly executed with live energy.
