Info

On June 11, 2026 at Bo's Bar & Stage in Red Deer, The Reverend Horton Heat teams up with The Surfrajettes for a night where psychobilly grit meets instrumental surf. Led by Texan guitarist and singer Jim Heath, The Reverend Horton Heat runs on a lean trio format—guitar, upright bass, drums—and fuses 50s rockabilly with punk energy, country twang, surf accents and a touch of swing. The songs often read like short road stories, built on crisp riffs and slap-bass drive. Long-time staples from Smoke ’Em If You Got ’Em, The Full-Custom Gospel Sounds of the Reverend Horton Heat and Liquor in the Front sit comfortably alongside later cuts from Revival, Rev and Whole New Life, with the band shifting naturally between fierce tempos and slower, dusty melodies.

Sharing the bill, Toronto quartet The Surfrajettes brings reverb-drenched surf instrumentals with clean, vintage-leaning tones and tight arrangements. Their sets balance bright, melodic leads, pulsing rhythms and a flair for playful themes, channeling classic 60s surf while keeping it lean and contemporary. It’s the kind of contrast that clicks: twang and slap from the Texas highway on one side, rolling waves of reverb on the other, all in a straight-ahead live format that puts the guitars and groove upfront.
