Info
Twenty years that La Maison Tellier has been carving out its path between narrative folk and chanson. Built around brothers Helmut and Raoul, the Norman group has honed an organic sound where guitars, pedal steel, violin and keyboards intersect, all in the service of stories that look closely at the world, without affectation. Their story is written on stage, in contact with the audience, with that way of telling together, of letting voices and images circulate.
They return with La Timidité des Arbres, their eighth album, a nod to 16 Horsepower and a declaration of love to roaming folk. You can hear Tex‑Mex echoes à la Calexico, veiled ballads that recall Shane MacGowan, and Sahelian dust in the vein of Ali Farka Touré. The songs follow a single thread: to speak of the beauty of living, to look humanity squarely in the eye, even when it goes astray.
La Maison Tellier celebrate their 20th anniversary on May 6, 2026 at the Transbordeur in Villeurbanne. It’s an opportunity to journey through their repertoire, discover the new songs and gauge what gives this band its strength: the songwriting, the tightly crafted arrangements and the simple desire to play the music they love.
