Info

Black Label Society hits MTELUS in Montréal on March 31, 2026. Formed in Los Angeles in 1998 by guitarist and singer Zakk Wylde, the band channels classic hard rock into a heavy metal framework, with southern shades and space for electric ballads. Wylde drives the writing and the guitar tone, steering a rotating lineup that often locks into a four-piece with longtime bassist John DeServio. Since Sonic Brew (1999), through The Blessed Hellride (2003), Mafia (2005) and Doom Crew Inc. (2021), the group has defined a sound built on thick riffs, mid‑tempo drive and long, sinewy solos. On stage, Black Label Society moves from fast cuts to darker moods and almost acoustic passages, with a rough yet melodic voice tying together metal roots, a blues sensibility and a direct, contemporary edge.

Also on the bill, Zakk Sabbath, Zakk Wylde’s power‑trio project devoted to the early Black Sabbath catalog. Born in the mid‑2010s, the band leans into the hard rock, doom and blues grain of those 1970s songs, with a rhythm section that shifts depending on the tour. After a run of club and festival dates, the trio released Vertigo (2020), a front‑to‑back re‑creation of Sabbath’s 1970 debut. On stage, Zakk Sabbath keeps arrangements live and unvarnished, stacking heavy riffs, slowed‑down tempos and a gravelly lead vocal that sits close to the spirit of the originals.
