Info
The Hives bring their tight, black-and-white garage rock to History in Toronto on March 22, 2026. Formed in Fagersta in the mid-90s around frontman Pelle Almqvist and guitarist Nicholaus Arson, the Swedish band carved a direct, riff-forward sound that broke out with Veni Vidi Vicious and the single Hate to Say I Told You So. Tyrannosaurus Hives and The Black and White Album refined their punchy choruses and controlled momentum, followed by the self-produced Lex Hives. In 2023, The Death of Randy Fitzsimmons extended their long-running mythos with new material built for the stage: fast, concise songs, call-and-response hooks, and that trademark monochrome stance.
Support comes from The Chats, a punk trio from Australia’s Sunshine Coast. Formed in 2016, they first made noise online with Smoko, then pushed their raw, no-frills formula across pubs and bigger rooms alike. High Risk Behaviour (2020) and Get Fucked (2022) stick to short tracks, blunt lyrics and garage-leaning energy, now carried by Eamon Sandwith, Matt Boggis and guitarist Josh Hardy. A straight-ahead pairing for a night of lean, fast rock at History.
