Info

Raul Midón, an American singer, guitarist and songwriter based in New York, blends soul, jazz, folk, blues, R&B and Latin influences. Blind since birth, he developed a percussive guitar technique—somewhere between classical and flamenco strings—with tapping, harmonics and strikes on the instrument, while punctuating his pieces with a “sung” trumpet that has become his trademark. He has performed alongside Bill Withers, Herbie Hancock, Sting, Terence Blanchard and Dianne Reeves, and his albums Bad Ass and Blind and If You Really Want were nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Jazz Vocal Album in 2017 and 2018, respectively.

On March 6, 2026, Raul Midón appears at New Morning in Paris. On stage, performing solo, he deploys a wide palette, from soul ballads to acoustic grooves. His recent projects also feature the collaboration of Andrés Forero, Richard Hammond and Federico Peña. His 13th studio album, Lost & Found, continues this handcrafted, personal approach, marked by a taste for self-production and a careful attention to sound nurtured through his work with engineer Michael O’Reilly since State of Mind, under the guidance of producer Arif Mardin. The repertoire interweaves melody, rhythm and improvisation.
