The January Blues Festival at Union Chapel in London celebrates its 10th anniversary year with two nights featuring American blues harmonica player Charlie Musselwhite with American electric blues guitarist, singer and songwriter Kirk Fletcher.
For more than six decades, Charlie Musselwhite has remained one of blues music's respected voices, a harmonica player whose career has always been rooted in authenticity.
Charlie Musselwhite did not just witness the golden era of blues; he was part of it, cutting his teeth alongside icons like Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf, playing in the smoky clubs of Chicago's South Side where the music roared and history was written. The stage became his home, and fifty years of touring shaped him into a master storyteller, his harmonica singing tales of joy, sorrow and everything in between. With more than 20 albums under his belt, a Grammy in hand and more than 33 Blues Music Awards lining his path, Charlie Musselwhite's voice and musicianship continue to deepen, like the roots of the music he embodies.
Kirk Fletcher plugs in his guitar and lets out the weight of the world. It is why he has been tapped to complement everyone from Joe Bonamassa, Cyndi Lauper, Fabulous Thunderbirds, Pinetop Perkins and James Cotton on stage and in the studio. It is why he has received several nominations for the Blues Music Award. It is why he has covered Living Blues Magazine and incited the applause of Guitar World, Guitar Player, Guitar and more. It is why he has amassed a solo discography streamed millions of times.
This pairing appears in concert over two nights as a European exclusive for the January Blues Festival in 2027.
