BAND-MAID

Formed in 2013 in Tokyo, BAND‑MAID is a five‑piece all‑female band centered on vocalists Miku Kobato and Saiki Atsumi, guitarist Kanami Tōno, bassist MISA and drummer Akane Hirose. The group is built around a striking contrast between an aesthetic inspired by Japanese maid cafés and a sound rooted in hard rock and heavy metal, featuring fast riffs, prominent bass lines and vocals that alternate catchy melodies with more powerful passages. After their first mini‑album, Maid in Japan (2014), Band‑Maid shaped their discography with Brand New Maid (2016), followed by the albums Just Bring It (2017), World Domination (2018), Conqueror (2019) and Unseen World (2021), completed by the EP Unleash (2022). The project initially developed on the Japanese rock scene—playing Tokyo clubs and specialized circuits—before expanding through numerous tours in Europe and North America, where Band‑Maid appears on lineups for rock and metal venues and festivals. Their compositions blend structures inherited from classic rock, modern metal influences and elements of J‑rock, with a strong focus on interlocking guitar parts and often technical rhythms, while occasionally incorporating choruses that lean toward Japanese pop.
