Shamoon Ismail

Born in Islamabad in 1991, Shamoon Ismail has since the early 2010s been developing a personal register at the crossroads of Punjabi and Urdu singing, blues, R&B, chill rap and retro-coloured electronic pop. A multi-instrumentalist, he first emerged on sharing platforms with tracks such as Sapne, released in 2013, followed by Tuntuna and Jutt Blues in 2014, which established a supple, often melodic writing, propelled by slow grooves and nonchalant vocal lines. Shamoon Ismail regularly combines urban textures, rap-adjacent phrasing and more sung choruses, in an aesthetic he has himself linked to Punjabi blues. His discography includes the EP Cookie in 2018, Magic and Brown Sugar in 2019, then Juice in 2020, before the album Scars & Screws in 2021. Over this journey, Shamoon Ismail also multiplies collaborations with artists from the Pakistani scene such as Talal Qureshi, Abdullah Siddiqui, Hasan Raheem, Talha Anjum or Talhah Yunus. Present on university stages and at events such as Lahore Music Meet, he belongs to a generation of Pakistani artists who blend local heritage, pop formats and alternative influences.
