María Escarmiento

Originally from Madrid, María Escarmiento gained visibility in 2018 through her participation in Operación Triunfo, before developing a solo path in the Spanish urban pop scene. María Escarmiento builds a repertoire at the crossroads of slow reggaeton, melodic trap, electronic pop and a more experimental vein, with a voice often restrained, diction close to speech and songs that favor tight formats. After the show, she followed up with solo releases and several collaborations within the Spanish ecosystem, moving away from the TV framework to circuits more linked to clubs, platforms and new approaches to Hispanic pop songwriting. Her evolution is audible in an increasingly stripped-down sound, where Latin rhythms, melancholic melodies and synthetic productions coexist without losing the effectiveness of the song format. Between urban pop, light electronics and intimate sensitivity, María Escarmiento thus occupies a distinctive place in a generation of Spanish artists who have moved from mainstream contests to alternative stages and digital formats.
