Job Kurian

Born in Vattiyoorkavu, in the Thiruvananthapuram metropolitan area of Kerala, Job Kurian has since the late 2000s pursued a career split between independent music and Malayalam cinema. Revealed to the public by the TV show Super Star in 2006, where he finished as a finalist, Job Kurian then began as a playback singer in cinema in 2007 with Goal, before quickly expanding his activity to composition. His first project as a composer, Thaalam, appeared in 2008 in collaboration with Charan and Yakzan, then he signed the music for the film Rasam in 2015. In his non-film tracks as in his film songs, Job Kurian blends acoustic pop, folk, soft rock and vocal traditions of South India, with a melodically often sober writing and a significant focus on voice texture. His personal discography includes Aarente, Empran and Kaanan in 2013, several singles released in 2015, then the Hope Project launched in 2017 with Enthavo, followed by Parudeesa in 2018, Mulla in 2018 and Kaalam in 2020. Job Kurian has also shared stages or projects with artists and groups from Kerala's alternative scene, including Avial and the Shankar Tucker Band, while continuing regular work for Malayalam cinema.
