Malú

Born into a family of Andalusian musicians, the Madrid-born singer Malú, born María Lucía Sánchez Benítez in 1982, is rooted in the tradition of Spanish song while steering it toward contemporary pop. Discovered at a very young age, she recorded her first album, “Aprendiz” (1998), at 15, with contributions from Alejandro Sanz, and gradually established herself on the Spanish pop scene with a repertoire of ballads and pop-rock songs. Over the course of albums such as “Cambiarás” (1999), “Esta vez” (2001), “Malú” (2005), “Vive” (2009), “Guerra fría” (2010), “Sí” (2013), “Caos” (2015), “Oxígeno” (2018) and “Mil batallas” (2021), Malú developed a style centered on the voice and the expression of feeling, situated between Latin pop, romantic song and touches of flamenco inherited from her family environment. Collaborations with various artists from the Spanish-speaking scene and regular tours in Spain and Latin America have placed Malú on a wide range of venues and festival stages. In parallel with her recordings, Malú served as a coach on the Spanish version of La Voz, further strengthening her presence in the Spanish-language music and television landscape.
