Seedhe Maut

Active on New Delhi's rap scene in India, Seedhe Maut is a duo formed by MCs Encore ABJ (Abhijay Negi) and Calm (Siddhant Sharma), signed to the independent label Azadi Records. Rooted in Hindi and Urdu hip hop, Seedhe Maut develops a technical style of rap that combines rapid flows, narrative writing and references to urban everyday life, ranging from social observation to portraits of Indian youth. The project emerged in the mid‑2010s within the city's open‑mic circuit and independent venues, before consolidating its activity through regular releases and collaborations with producers from India's new rap wave. The release of the album “Bayaan” in 2018 marked an important milestone in Seedhe Maut’s discography, followed in 2022 by “Nayaab”, which continued work focused on the contrasts between ambition, social pressure and economic realities. On stage and in the studio, the duo plays on the complementarity of voices and writing, alternating introspective tracks, pure performance pieces and more melodic songs, and has firmly established itself in the development of independent hip hop in India.
