Blaze Bayley
Born in Birmingham in 1963, Blaze Bayley first came to attention in the mid-1980s as the singer of British heavy metal band Wolfsbane, active on the English rock scene between club dates and tour support slots. His style is rooted in traditional heavy metal, often featuring fast tempos and melodic guitars, driven by a deep, gritty voice. Bayley joined Iron Maiden in 1994 and recorded the albums “The X Factor” (1995) and “Virtual XI” (1998) with the band, a period marked by darker, more progressive compositions. After leaving Iron Maiden he launched a solo career as Blaze and later Blaze Bayley, releasing studio albums such as “Silicon Messiah” (2000), “Tenth Dimension” (2002) and “Blood & Belief” (2004), which continued a classic metal aesthetic with sci‑fi and introspective themes. From “The Man Who Would Not Die” (2008) and “Promise and Terror” (2010) he consolidated a band under his name and reinforced a focus on direct riffs and structured choruses, before embarking on a conceptual trilogy with “Infinite Entanglement” (2016), “Endure and Survive” (2017) and “The Redemption of William Black” (2018). Still active across Europe and South America, Blaze Bayley alternates between electric touring, more intimate formats and occasional collaborations, including acoustic reinterpretations of his repertoire.
