Dinner Time
Born out of Atlanta, Georgia’s indie scene, Dinner Time has since 2018 brought together several singer-songwriters from local bands around a shared project that blends indie rock, garage rock, 60s pop melodies and a DIY aesthetic. The quintet — Ian Buford (guitar, vocals), Alejandro Uribe (guitar, vocals), Andrew Joyce (piano, guitar, vocals), London Cameron (bass) and Gideon Johnston (drums, vocals) — first attracted attention with the single “Walden Park” before releasing their self-titled debut album, Dinner Time, in 2019, which established them beyond their regional circle and led to a first national tour to Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle. Between 2020 and 2021, Dinner Time issued a series of self-recorded singles while preparing Halfway Down, their second album released in October 2021 on The Record Machine, noted for the introduction of darker synthesizers and psychedelic touches. After appearances at SXSW and the Treefort Music Festival in 2022, Dinner Time settled on its current lineup in 2023 and developed, for Technicolor — released in May 2024 on The Record Machine — a hazier sound in which garage roots combine with psych-leaning inflections and jazz-adjacent nuances; during this period Alejandro Uribe appears for the first time as a lead vocalist alongside Ian Buford and Andrew Joyce.
