JAEL

Born in the Netherlands, Giovanni Jaël Jano develops, under the name JAEL, a project at the crossroads of electronic music, soul, gospel and Moluccan influences linked to his family history. A producer, DJ and singer, JAEL constructs sets that blend club music, bass music, broken beat, jungle and vocal passages, with an approach that moves between listening and dancing. JAEL first gained recognition within the collective and label Soulection, and later on stages such as Boiler Room Festival in Amsterdam and London, the Brooklyn Mirage in New York, the O2 Brixton in London and Lowlands in the Netherlands. Alongside his performances, JAEL hosted the monthly show CAROUSEL JAEL on Rinse FM between 2022 and 2023. His discography notably includes the album Half As Much, released in 2021, which establishes the balance between songwriting and club formats. JAEL also contributed to the track Close To Me with Juls, Wizkid and Agent Sasco, and released Nancy Junglist with Sister Nancy, a piece that pushes his work more clearly toward jungle and drum and bass.
