Satsang
Rooted in the rural landscapes of Montana, Satsang refers to the musical project led by American singer‑songwriter Drew McManus, at the crossroads of folk, roots rock, soul and influences from reggae and hip‑hop. Satsang developed in the mid‑2010s around songwriting focused on introspection, secular spirituality, the relationship with nature and questions of individual and collective responsibility. The first album, The Story of You (2016), established an aesthetic blending acoustic guitar, supple grooves and spoken‑word‑like phrasing, while Pyramid(s) (2017) expanded the project toward a fuller band sound. With Kulture (2019) and All. Right. Now. (2020), Satsang emphasized more American and roots colors, between sing‑along choruses and mid‑tempo rhythms, before a more intimate refocusing on Flowers From The Fray (2022), largely written in the isolation of Montana’s mountains. On stage, Satsang presents itself as a band built around McManus, alternating electric lineups and more acoustic configurations, and tours extensively across North America, from small venues to festivals, maintaining a continuity between personal message, social awareness and accessible sonorities.
