BLÜ EYES

Behind BLÜ EYES is Katie Stump, a singer, songwriter and producer trained in pop performance at the University of Southern California, where her solo project took shape after several years performing live and playing in various bands. BLÜ EYES develops intimate, self-produced pop bordering bedroom pop and alternative pop, with direct songwriting focused on loss, identity, abandonment and imbalanced relationships. Her stage name refers to a sensitivity to light, a personal element that echoes a music centered on expressing vulnerability and everyday emotions. Over the course of her career, Katie Stump has also honed her production work, initially informed by collective experiences and later narrowed to a more personal format in which each track is conceived as a first-person narrative space. BLÜ EYES released the EP healing hurts in 2022 and has since pursued a restrained approach to contemporary pop, built around clear vocals, light electronic textures and tight arrangements.
