Michigander

Under the name Michigander, Jason Singer has been developing since the mid‑2010s a project born in Michigan, between Kalamazoo and Midland, at the intersection of indie rock, alternative rock and melodic pop rock driven by crisp guitars and direct choruses. Conceived as a solo studio project and accompanied on stage by several musicians, Michigander emerged with the singles "Nineties" and "Mexico" in 2016, then refined his songwriting on the EP Midland in 2018, entirely written by Singer. What followed expanded into a broader format with Where Do We Go From Here (2019), Everything Will Be OK Eventually (2022) and It Will Never Be The Same (2023), a record where Michigander blends more expansive production with very readable songcraft — between rock impulses, indie textures and pop sensibility. This trajectory has been built as much through releases as through live performances, from early opening slots to appearances at festivals like Mo Pop, Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits, and on tours with Manchester Orchestra, Foxing and Andrew McMahon. In 2025 Michigander released a debut album, simply titled Michigander, continuing this mix of modern American rock, contained emotional tension and accessible songwriting.
