Kim Richardson
Born in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Kim Richardson first made her mark in the mid-1980s with a repertoire spanning dance-pop, R&B and soul, before broadening her career to include jazz, gospel, blues and musical theatre. From a family of musicians and actors, she began performing on stage with The Richardsons, then as a solo artist with the singles "He’s My Lover" (1985), "Peek-a-Boo" (1986) and "I Want It" (1987). This initial period earned her two Juno Awards, a significant milestone in her Canadian trajectory. Later based in Montreal, Kim Richardson established a regular presence on Quebec stages as a lead singer, backing vocalist and musical theatre performer. She has collaborated notably with the Montreal Jubilation Gospel Choir and with Jim Hillman and the Merlin Factor, while continuing projects under her own name. Her discography includes the albums Kaleidoscope (2006) and Mes amours (2011). Kim Richardson also contributed to the soundtrack of the film Funkytown in 2011 and, over the years, has maintained a career rooted in Montreal’s soul, jazz and gospel scenes, with occasional collaborations such as recent work with Jonathan Roy.
