BIG | BRAVE

Born in Montreal in 2012 around Robin Wattie, Mathieu Ball and Tasy Hudson, BIG | BRAVE operates at the intersection of drone metal, post‑metal, sludge and experimental rock. The Canadian trio works with slow, repetitive and highly contrasted forms built on tension, space, saturation and long dynamic crescendos, with a prominent role for Robin Wattie’s stripped‑down voice. After Feral Verdure in 2014, BIG | BRAVE released Au De La in 2015 and Ardor in 2017 — records that established an austere, stretched and physical mode of writing. A Gaze Among Them (2019) and Vital (2021) extended this approach by emphasizing the relationship between silence, friction and volume, while Leaving None but Small Birds, released the same year, shifted the project into a bleaker, more exposed register by drawing on traditional songs. With nature morte (2023) and A Chaos of Flowers (2024), BIG | BRAVE continued this evolution between sonic abstraction, rock materiality and formal exploration. The band has toured Europe and North America and played festivals such as Roadburn, Le Guess Who?, Big Ears, Suoni Per Il Popolo and Sled Island.
